How to Get Started with Intelligent Automation

Are you interested in artificial intelligence or intelligent automation but have no clue where to start? In this ISG whitepaper, we explore the term “intelligent automation” and how to begin successful deployment.

Many are familiar with robotic process automation (RPA), which is software capable of automating simple, rules-based tasks previously performed by humans. RPA can mimic the interactions of a human and connect to several systems without changing them as it operates on the graphical user interface or GUI. One drawback of RPA is that it needs structured data as input and can perform only standardized processes.

Intelligent automation gives software robots a method for learning how to interact with unstructured data. Intelligent automation generally includes the following capabilities: image recognition, natural language processing, cognitive reasoning, and conversational AI.

This ISG whitepaper further defines intelligent automation, how to get started and how to identify a successful use case.
